Self defense is a skill that every person should have under their belt and, lucky for you, Jiu-Jitsu is one of the best types of self defense that money can buy. Kids Jiu-Jitsu
Our kids Jiu-Jitsu class introduces children aged 5 to 14 to the martial arts in a fun learning atmosphere. This class is designed to foster kids’ confidence by teaching them proper self-defense techniques that could potentially save their life.
Jiu-Jitsu (GI & No GI)
Double Five’s jiu jitsu classes focus on fundamental jiu jitsu techniques in a traditional kimono (or a gi). While the daily class instruction changes, training on proper body positioning and self-defense techniques, such as takedowns, chokes, and joint locks, are always included.
We offer beginner and advanced level classes suitable for ages 16 and older.
Required gear: Jiu Jitsu Gi and rash guard.
Muay Thai Kickboxing
Our Muay Thai kickboxing class begins with the basics, focusing on the most important kickboxing techniques. While individual class instruction varies, we maintain a routine that ensures our students receive the best training possible. Students begin by performing various warm-up drills, which may include calisthenics, jogging, rope jumping, and shadowboxing. Each class’s lesson will include training on proper stance, footwork drills, pad work, heavy bag sessions, and optional partner sparring that focuses on striking combinations. Classes always end with a cool down, in order to prevent injury and aid in recovery.
Required gear: Boxing gloves and shin guards. Headgear is recommended for sparring.
Submission Wrestling
Double Five’s submission wrestling class focuses on fundamental jiu jitsu techniques. Class instruction varies, but always includes instruction on proper posture, correct body positioning, and self-defense techniques, such as takedowns, chokes, and joint locks.
We offer beginner and advanced level classes suitable for ages 16 and older.
Required gear: Rash guard and shorts (no pockets).
Boxing
Our boxing classes focus on the fundamentals of boxing training and proper boxing technique. In each class, students perform various warm-up drills, which may include calisthenics, jogging, rope jumping, and shadowboxing. The content of class will differ each week, but will typically include common boxing stance and footwork drills, punching lessons, pad work, or heavy bag drills in order to assist with proper punch combinations. Additionally, optional sparring rounds are offered! Classes always end with a cool down, in order to prevent injury and aid in recovery.
